Production Blog: Editing (part 2)
After our day of hard work on our music video, we still had more editing to do. We decided to call a few days later so we could finish up. In the past, we have used FaceTime. However, Isaac has an android so it is often hard to connect on the first try. We eventually wound up on Snapchat video call. We all have the Snapchat app, so it avoided any connection issues.
First, I played the video off my computer so everyone could see what we are working with. Amelie noticed an issue. An insert of her on drums did not line up with the drums in the audio. We tried a few more times and eventually found the perfect place for the clip. Isaac then made a suggestion. He wanted the insert of Amelie and me, jumping off the couch to be a few seconds later in the video. It would work to space out the clips better.
When we went to insert the clip of Isaac running, it was in slow motion! Oh no! I had to speed up the clip in iMovie to make it more natural. Luckily, we are using all non-diegetic sound, so the deep diegetic audio remaining after the speed change was not a problem.
Lilly also suggested that the inserts of her, Amelie, and me should be sequenced next to each other between shots of the plotline. It looks so much more natural with the clips so close together.
I am so happy with the final result! It is just what we hoped for!
