All About Me Commercial - Reflection

    This project allowed me to learn many new technologies and features. Although I have used iMovie in the past, I have never used it so “professionally” as I did for this project. I learned so many features of this software that expedited and alleviated my production process. Additionally, I learned the process of both downloading from and uploading to YouTube. I downloaded the song I used directly from YouTube. I also uploaded my commercial to YouTube. Previously, I had only ever used an iPad to upload YouTube videos. It was so much easier from my computer.

    From this project, I have learned that it is important to stay on top of things, to avoid procrastination. Proper time management allows you to put your best foot forward. You should trust your gut instincts when it comes to the creative process. When putting a project together, it is normal to revise parts that you are not fully happy with. Once the brainstorming stage has concluded, it is important to plan and set goals. If there are complications during the process, it is important to push through. It is an important part of the learning process to learn to adapt and be on your toes.

    Once I gather feedback for this project, I can think of ways to make my next project better. I will take any criticisms and develop strategies to prevent the issues from happening again. I had trouble with my decisiveness during this project. So, next time, I will try to weigh the pros and cons of any decision. That will ensure confidence in my every choice. I will also pay more attention to the rubric of the assignment. I had to go back and revise certain components of my commercial to fit the rubric. I would prefer not to repeat that next project.

    I thoroughly enjoyed my time working on this project. It challenged my creativity and helped me to develop my editing skills. I like that it was so personalized, as it gave me a platform to express myself, as well as my interests and past moments. The decision to choose a song for my commercial was a hard yet enjoyable experience. That is simply because there were so many options! I also loved having a reason to travel back through time, revisiting my younger self through each video. Also, editing all of the videos together and trying to correlate the sound, proved to be a fun challenge! I hope there are more projects with components like these.
